Following his meeting with the Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at Istana Kinta today, UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi wanted the previous alignment of the state government is maintained.
After his audience with Sultan Nazrin, the Bagan Datuk MP also hinted that a new alignment may be underway if there is a need to do so.
This statement was made following the insistence of PAS and PPBM refusing to take part in the new state government setup.
“UMNO and BN are of the opinion that, if possible the previous alignment set by the former MB (Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu) be maintained.”
“I will suggest several names to the Sultan of Perak, for him to make a decision on who’s best to lead the state of Perak.”
“I will only suggest, it will be up to him (Sultan Perak).”
When asked if there is a new for a new alignment, Zahid hinted that if the possibility is there, there may be a new alignment taking place.
Last night, UMNO party leaders from both state and federal have met up at the Perak UMNO Building in Ipoh for a special meeting.
Attended by Zahid himself, he was also joined by Sharul Zaman, Padang Rengas’s Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and Pangkor Assemblyman Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.
Currently, it is learnt that State Liaison Chairman and Kota Tampan assemblyman Datuk Saarani Mohamad and UMNO Rungkup assembly Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya are among the shortlisted candidates for the Menteri Besar seat.
