Royal decree to vaccinate Selangor’s factory workers

SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al Haj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al Haj, is urging the speedy vaccination of factory workers due to the high number of factories and industries in the state.

The Sultan said in a statement on the official Selangor Royal Office Facebook page today that the move is also to break the chain of Covid-19 infection and achieve herd immunity.

Bernama reported that Sultan Sharafuddin has also urged those responsible for distributing vaccines to immediately increase Selangor’s allocation.

This is to ensure that the percentage ratio is in line with the total population and total infection rate in the most populous state in Malaysia.

In another development, the Sultan granted an audience to the new Deputy Mufti of Selangor, Prof Madya Miszairi Sitiris, at Istana Bukit Kayangan, Shah Alam.

Miszairi reported for duty at the Selangor Mufti Department on July 1.

At the meeting, Sultan Sharafuddin expressed concern about the spread of the Covid-19 virus, especially among Muslims in the state.

As such, he advised all Muslims to celebrate next week’s Hari Raya Aidiladha moderately and not to return to their villages or leave their respective districts.

With the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the community, the Sultan did not want the infection to continue to spread, as what had happened during the previous Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The people in Selangor, he noted, need to sacrifice because the Covid-19 situation was worsening, with the number of new cases in Selangor exceeding 4,000 cases a day and the overall death toll now at 2,063.
