No need to continue Emergency after 1st August – Malay Rulers

Malay Ruler has come to an agreement that there is no need to continue the Proclamation of Emergency after 1st August.

According to Keeper of the Great Seal of the Rulers, Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, The Malay Ruler felt that it is important to respect the check and balance mechanism between the executive, legislative and judicial branches to ensure transparent governance, integrity and accountability to the people, especially in financial affairs and national expenditure.

“The Rulers support are in line with the stand of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who ordered Parliament to sit immediately.”

“At the state level, the Malay Rulers also of the opinion that the Government of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) should be reconvened as soon as possible,” he said in a statement after a special discussion session Malay Rulers at Istana Negara.

Syed Danial also said It is the duty of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers in the states to balance the various demands in order to ensure justice and to avoid the real possibility or perception of any abuse of power.

“Malay Rulers stressed the importance of the principle of constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy as its translated through cultural governance at all times ennobling constitution and uphold the law,”

Malay Rulers took note of the country’s political environment which its not stable, increasingly fractured unity and the worrying country’s economic situation

“The warming political temperature must be cold down,” he said.
