UMNO president made a statement wondering if the Proclamation of emergency to curb Covid-19 ordered by Yang di-Pertuan Agong was handled well by the government Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Datuk Seri Zahid hamidi said It has been almost 4 months since the Emergency was implemented, yet the rate of Covid-19 infection remains high.
“Isn’t this in line with Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s order when declaring the Proclamation of Emergency?”
“Didn’t he say that the Proclamation of Emergency should be used as a proactive measure to curb the Covid-19 epidemic? Does this mean that the PN government has failed to implement the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s order?” Zahid wrote in a Facebook post yesterday.
He stressed that this situation cannot be allowed to continue because of the order of Yang di-Pertuan Agong is for the welfare of the people.
If the government has run out of resources and ideas, Zahid said the efforts to curb Covid-19 should be handed back to the Parliament.
“There (Parliament), input from all parties will be refined and the voices and views of the people will be heard.” He said
Zahid also said, PN government can no longer give any excuse that Parliamentary sessions are not allowed due to proclamation of emergency and suggest that Yang di-Pertuan Agong can just continue to convene a sitting of Parliament without advice from the PM.
