FT Pejuang Chief urges Syed Saddiq to keep on the fight

KUALA LUMPUR: “Berani kerana benar!” This was the opening phrase coined by Federal Territories’ Pejuang Chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan in his message to the former Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman who is facing Criminal Breach of Trust and misappropriation charges and hauled to the Session Court yesterday.

The statement which means “be bold and have no fear when you know that you are innocent” was part of Khairuddin’s message that made its round in the social media.

Khairuddin was among a handful of opposition leaders present at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex to lend moral support to the embattled Muar Member of Parliament. Others were Parti Keadilan VP Tian Chua and Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil.

“I pray that YB Syed Saddiq will be protected by Allah SWT from all forms of slander by certain groups who have failed to force him to support them,” he said.

Syed Saddiq is a young leader with high potential and due to his principle of not wanting to side with any forms of misconduct, a move to kill his political career is being orchestrated by certain factions in the Perikatan Nasional government, Khairuddin said.

He noted: “I know YB Syed Saddiq very well from the time we formed the People’s Declaration until the establishment of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) before the General Election (GE) 14.

“For me, YB Syed Saddiq is a young leader with principles and integrity, very humble and is anti-corruption.

“It is hoped that YB Syed Saddiq will be strong in the face of this slander and will not succumb to any pressure that he is going through now.

“In 2016, during the era of Klepotocracy, I was also persecuted and slandered by them, but I remained strong with the principle of not pawning one’s dignity to side with the traitors of the country,” said Khairuddin.

Being the first person in this country to be charged under the Sosma Act, he explained that he was detained in a lockup as well as at the Sg Buloh prison for two and a half months.

“However, because I was in the right, Allah SWT kept my well-being and I was subsequently released from the Sungai Buloh prison by the court.

“Allah SWT is all-knowing and all-just. I am very confident that Allah SWT will defend and protect YB Syed Saddiq from this slander,” Khairuddin added.

“Indeed, I would like to advise YB Syed Saddiq not to budge and submit at all to the ‘hole-in-the-roof’ PN government (kerajaan tebuk atap PN), no matter what they will persecute him with,” he said.
