Malim Nawar Assemblyman Leong Cheok Keng was stripped of his DAP membership by the DAP disciplinary committee after media reports surfaced that he had joined MCA.

The committee’s Chairman Chong Chieng Jen said that they decided to investigate the claim by issuing a show-cause letter to Leong, to which he did not respond.

“Leong Cheok Keng has left the disciplinary committee with no other alternative but to terminate his party membership with immediate effect.”

Earlier, Pokok Assam Assemblyman Leow Thye Yih denied claims that he too will be joining MCA.

“Reports in several Chinese newspapers about me and 20 other DAP assemblymen and MPs joining another political party are inaccurate.”

“I hope my explanation is clear, and this will put to rest the rumours,” he said via a WhatsApp message.”
