Are we in a half baked lockdown?

Two days ago, Senior Minister of Defense, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said eatery and restaurant premises are allowed to operate from 6 a.m until 10 p.m.

According to him, the latest decision was made after taking into account the appeal and views of the restaurant operators.

“Previously, operations involving eatery and restaurant premises were only allowed from 8am to 8pm.

“After taking into account the appeals and views of the restaurant operators, the meeting agreed to change the operating hours of the premises that sell food from 6 am to 10 pm effective June 28, 2021,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

With such action, are we in a total lockdown?

Public Health Physician, Department of Medical Microbiology, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Associate Professor Dr Malina Osman said, the implementation of full movement restriction is seen to have less of the expected effect as MCO 1.0 due to high Covid-19 infection case breakdown in Selangor and the existence of many workplace clusters. industrial plant clusters.

He explained that the implementation of full movement restrictions did not actually achieve the objective of ‘total lockdown’ as MCO 1.0 because the manufacturing sector is seen to be still operating comprehensively with the risk of 1.5 million workers who have not been vaccinated.

During MCO 1.0, we have achieve a drastic decrease of the number of new Covid-19 cases due to the strict implementation of the total lockdown.
