A 36 year old man stabbed by his ex brother-in-law on 1st Syawal.
In an the incident at 7.30 a.m yesterday, in Kampung Berangan Enam, Umbai, the victim was stabbed to death after an argument and fight with the suspect.
Melaka Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sukri Kaman said The 32 year old male suspect came to the victim’s house which was also inhabited by his ex wife, the victim’s younger brother, in a state of anger.
“The suspect had divorced his ex-wife last January and came to the victim’s house to take his two children, possibly to celebrate (Aidilfitri) together.
“There was an argument and the victim tried to calm the suspect down, however there was a struggle before the victim was stabbed in his right rib with a knife carried by the suspect,” he said when met by reporters at the scene.
Mohd Sukri said the victim’s two daughters, aged eight and 10, did not suffer any injuries because they hid with their mother in a room.
He said his department confirmed that the incident was caused by a child fight.
“Preliminary investigation also found that the suspect had a previous record related to drugs.
“The police are now conducting a search for the suspect who managed to escape by riding in a Perodua Kancil car,” Mohd Sukri said.
The victim was taken to Melaka Hospital and was pronounced dead.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
