“50k Comments Show How Angry They Are At KWSP.” – Najib Razak

Recent changes in i-Sinar withdrawals have not been kind to the management of Employees Provident Fund (EPF). Despite mentioning that eight million people are eligible for application, criteria put in place have left people wanting, taking to social media to vent their frustrations.

Prominent political figures such a Najib Razak, have thus far become the champion of the people’s voice, having cited that more than 50k netizens sharing their frustrations on his postings relating to the i-Sinar ‘turnaround’.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, Najib slammed EPF and the ruling government for their failure to address the hardship of the people.

In his video, Najib said “the people are disappointed. Those who commented wanted nothing more than an easing of requirements for them to receive their one-off payment of RM10,000.00 and allow them to chart their own way of spending the money.”

“It should be their decision whether or not to withdraw RM10,000.00. We must trust the people because it is their own money and their own prerogative.”

The announcement which contradicts the previous statement made by Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz who said that “Anybody, as long as their income has been affected, can request to withdraw their savings in Account 1.”, did not go down well with the public, especially the M40 who view themselves as always getting the short end of the stick.

In a circulated press statement released last Wednesday, EPF stated that only those who had suffered a 30% income reduction which includes other benefits such as allowance and overtime from 1st March 2020 onwards qualify for assistance.

As many leaders have risen to slam EPF for not keeping to their promise, only time will tell as to whether or not parties involved will change their stance for the betterment of the rakyat.

Stay tuned for more updates.
